When we undertake to search for property for you, we do so under
a set of self-imposed rules. Prime amongst this code
of conduct, is the tenet that, as we are not estate agents we
do not accept commission from anyone.
We see it as essential that we gain your trust from day
one, for the essence of our mission statement is that we offer independent
and impartial reporting. If we take your money, then we work for
you. No-one else. Especially not the seller or the sellers estate
agency.
Our independence leaves us free to go where we want as we
search the whole market for you. Not just the offerings of one estate
agency or chain, but everywhere. Including property owners direct.
That way, you can rest assured that when we come up with a selection
of properties that match your brief, we have trawled the whole market
and not just property from one estate agent, because we happen to
have a commission deal in place with them.
Being independent, frees us when it comes to negotiating
a price for the property that you have selected. For in these negotiations,
we will always be biased to you, our client, in our efforts to get
you the best possible price. At the same time, when we do
come up with a final price for your new home in France, you will
have the peace of mind knowing that this be will an honest price.
Because we are not trying to protect a hidden commission from that
agent.
Searching for property on the internet is fine up to a point, but
you cannot beat "eyes and feet on the ground". Nor local
knowledge. We are here already and not only know our patch, but live
the life every day. We know people... they tell us things. We know
where the new road will be built and what the latest rumours are
about the delay in the new airport opening. We know all the local
agents, which are the good ones, which are the poor. We know the
villages and towns... which ones are good to be near and the ones
best left to others. And we know how much it costs to renovate...
to knock a wall down here, build an extension there. Believe us,
we know!
Well, the blonde is fluent and I muddle through with my builders'
vocabulary.
